When you walk into a gym for the first time it can be difficult to know exactly where to start.If all you did was pay attention to some of the other folks in there then you soon find yourself wrapped up in some seriously complicated, unnecessary workouts.
It is important to structure your workouts in such a way that the order of exercises compliments the workout as a whole.When we workout itis important we follow a few basic principles. These are:
1  The Warm-up
2 Skilled exercises.
3  Further strength work
4 Core work
5  Interval training Let`s break this down furtherWhen we enter a gym it isimportant to warm up. This means we need to prepare the body for the workout that is about to follow. Ideally, we want to avoid the treadmill and all the other machines and instead focus on all-round bodyweight movements such as jumping jacks, bodyweight squats, lunges and push ups. It is important to hit all of your major muscle groups and you will also be warming up your joints, too.Skilled exercises such as the Olympic lifts should be worked on while you are fresh, not when you have completed your workout and you are feeling tired and low on energy else you risk injury and minimal returns for all your hard work.If you are only exercising for fat loss then you might skill this section of the workout, and that is OK. But if you want to make gains athletically, then this is the time to focus on improving your technique.
You do not need to be advanced to work on these types of exercises but make sure the exercise is appropriate in difficulty.When your skilled work is complete, you can move on to further strength based exercises such as squats, pull ups, push ups, the bench press or deadlifts. This can follow any appropriate sets & reps program as well as any superset regime. Make sure you get appropriate rest between sets (this could be anything up to 3 minutes, to ensure full recovery).If you are following a superset based program, make sure the muscles used in each do not compete with each other. This will only cause your potential gains to be stunted. As an example, donot try and combine the bench press with the push up in a superset type format. Bodyweight squats, on the other hand, could complement push ups perfect.This is the stage of the workout where we move on to working the muscles. This means exercises that hit your abdominal muscles, your obliques and your lower back muscles. Avoid sit ups and crunches as these have the potential to damage your back. Instead, replace these with stability type exercises such as the plank. This is an extremely powerful move that can result in a huge improvement to your posture in particular.By this point of the workout you will likely be pretty tired so it is important we avoid any exercise that is libel to cause injury, such as lifting heavy weights. Instead of resorting to slow, boring cardio give interval training.Interval training is a type of physical training that involves bursts of high-intensity work interspersed with periods of recovery. The high-intensity periods are typically at or close to near-maximum exertion, while the recovery periods may involve either complete rest or activity of lower intensity.
This will allow you to lose fat more effectively and far quick than jogging on a treadmill for 45 minutes.By exercising consistently, you will become disciplined and have a great, toned body you will love.
